Wisconsin Assembly passes mining bill
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin Assembly OKs mining bill, clears path for giant iron mine south of Lake Superior. The bill passed the Assembly by a vote of 58-39.
The bill will now head to Governor Scott Walker's desk, he is expected to sign it within the next few days. Walker, a supporter of the bill, commented on its passage.
"On behalf of the unemployed skilled workers in our state who will benefit from the thousands of mining-related jobs over the next few years, I say thank you for passing a way to streamline the process for safe and environmentally sound mining in Wisconsin." Governor Walker said.
