Someone's posing as utility worker and scamming customers
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Police have been alerted to a scam targeting utlity customers.
Wisconsin Public Service has received reports that scammers have been posing as utility workers and contacting customers, claiming their power is about to be shut off because of an unpaid bill.
The Green Bay-based utility says customers were either told to purchase pre-paid debit cards and call back within an hour with payment, or they were told to get some cash together for pickup.
Anyone who suspects they were contacted by such a person should contact police.
