Drunk driving victim: offenders 'should be hanged'
SOUTH MILWAUKEE - He calls himself a walking miracle.
David Rediske was severely injured during a drunk driving crash in 1982. His buddy was behind the wheel.
"He lost control of the car, went off the road, and wrapped his '74 Camaro around a tree," Rediske told WTMJ's John Mercure. "My skull was crushed. My nose was literally ripped of my face."
Rediske was in a coma for 32 days.
When he regained consciousness, the doctor gave him news that would change his life forever.
"The doctor said 'David you will never see again,'" Rediske recalled. "'You are completely, totally blind.'"
According to Rediske, it was his buddy's first time driving drunk. Rediske said first time drunk drivers shouldn't get a pass.
"If I got my way, first timers should be hanged," he said. "Hang 'em by the neck."
