WAUWATOSA - There's a Wisconsin connection to the California cop killer
Christopher Dorner killed three people and then led police on a 9-day manhunt. It ended Tuesday after Dorner killed another police officer and then died in a burning cabin.
A Wauwatosa couple was mentioned in an angry letter Dorner wrote before his killing spree.
We are not identifying them for their safety and they seemingly have no connection to the crimes Dorner committed.
He calls the husband "greatest friend" and tells him to "Always focus on your IMMEDIATE family as they are the ones who have loved you unconditionally..."
Steven Spingola: "These are these broken thought processes which is definitely what psychologists talk about as a break from reality.”
Steven Spingola was one of the lead investigators on the Jeffrey Dahmer case.
Steven Spingola: "These are all people who suffer from different breaks in reality. Dahmer's were more sexual related. Kaczynski blamed universities, airliners for his problems and his lack of getting a job. Dorner was clearly the firing by the inernal afairs division at LAPD that he blames."
Dorner addresses that with this couple, apologizing for "…arguing with you about issues that were insignificant when I was really angry at the LAPD for what they did to me."
And while the full toll of Dorner's reign of terror is yet to be seen, Spingola believes this couple suffered too.
Steven Spingola: "Everybody has to be treated as a victim here."
Spingola believes this was bound to end in Dorner either killing himself or getting killed by police. We'll know more as the investigation unfolds.
