Drunken driver crashes head-on into another car after driving wrong way down I-794
MILWAUKEE - A wrong-way drunken driver caused a crash at the height of the snowstorm Thursday evening on I-794.
According to the sheriff's office, the suspect was driving southbound in the northbound lanes near Hoan Bridge when he crashed head-on into a white Toyota RAV4 at Carferry Drive.
"Robert A. Kieser, age 64, of Cudahy, was taken into custody for OWI-1st Causing Injury, Recklessly Endangering Safety, and driving Wrong Way on Freeway," said Fran McLaughlin with the sheriff's office. "Kieser did not know where he got on the freeway. The driver of the vehicle he struck was taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken arm."
Kieser faces up to 10 years and nine months in prison if convicted. The sheriff reports that this crash is the second wrong-way driver on the freeway this year, but the first that is drunken driver-related.
