Oshkosh man charged in fatal alcohol-related crash
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- An Oshkosh man who's accused of causing a fatal collision while drunk has been charged with six felonies, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
An Oshkosh Northwestern report says 57-year-old William G. Doemel was driving in December in the town of Nekimi. Investigators say his SUV crossed the center line and collided head-on with a van driven by 80-year-old Robert Zentner.
Zentner was killed and his 81-year-old wife broke a wrist, knee and seven ribs.
At the time Doemel was driving with a suspended driver's license from a previous drunken driving conviction in 2011.
A criminal complaint filed this week says Doemel had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.285, or 3 1/2 times the legal limit.
A message left for his public defender Thursday was not immediately returned.
