Ringing cellphone stolen from victim gives away burglar
APPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- An accused burglar who had his victim's cellphone in his pocket was busted when Appleton police called the phone while questioning the suspect.
Homeowners in Appleton woke up about 2 a.m. Tuesday to find someone trying to steal their TV. Police say the burglar fled after the homeowners woke up, but not before stealing a cellphone.
The Outagamie County Sheriff's Department and its canine unit helped track down the suspected burglar at another residence in Appleton. WLUK-TV says police called the stolen cellphone. The suspect's coat pocket started ringing and police say they knew they had their burglar.
