Donald Driver urges fans not to buy tickets to his retirement send-off
GREEN BAY - Tickets to Donald Driver's retirement event in Green Bay have started showing across the Internet, up for sale.
Donald Driver announced his retirement Thursday, Jan. 31, and just a day later the tickets for his retirement send-off at Lambeau Field were given away to the public. The tickets were free but given on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Packers ticket office, and all 1,000 tickets were gone in just 15 minutes.
Within hours, fans were on Craigslist and other ticket-selling websites asking, and willing to pay, for tickets to the event. But Driver urged fans Friday not to buy the tickets he wanted given away for free.
"It's sad that someone would charge people to buy tickets to my event when I gave them the tickets for free," he tweeted Friday afternoon. "Please! Don't anyone buy them!"
The retirement event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Lambeau Field Atrium.
