MILWAUKEE - Demolition of the Greenfield Avenue Bridge is underway.
Crews started hammering away at the concrete off Interstate-894 this weekend.
Today's TMJ4's Todd Hicks spoke with nearby neighbors including Emily Rogers who says it sounded like a war zone, and that wasn't just because of the hammering. Noisy onlookers came by to watch and drivers are getting detoured through what are typically quiet residential streets.
The project is being done in advance of the Zoo Interchange Project.
The bridge is scheduled to reopen in time for the Wisconsin State Fair.
