Snowmobiler suffers hypothermia, but should survive
FOND DU LAC, Wis. - A passerby who could hear a call for help on Lake Winnebago is credited with saving a snowmobiler's life.
First responders got a call around 11:00 Friday night and rushed to the scene where they discovered 47-year-old Kelly Miliam of Fond du Lac in frigid waters after his snowmobile broken through thin ice.
It's estimated he spent at least a half hour in five-to-six feet of water.
Miliam had hypothermia, but is expected to survive.
Ice had been a concern for snowmobilers on Lake Winnebago for many days prior to this accident, and experts advise snowmobilers check maps before heading out.
