FOND DU LAC - A child wandered away from his daycare, and nobody knew where he was. The child was missing for nearly an hour, but this story has a happy ending.

A woman saw the boy walking by himself and called police.

TODAY’S TMJ4’s Heather Shannon spoke exclusively with that Good Samaritan.

During that hour, no was notified the boy was missing. Not his parents, and not even police. It took the curiosity of a stranger to get him home safely.

Owen St. Mary is your typical 4-year-old. He likes to ride his bike and play with cars. He also really likes being around mom. So much so, that he left his church pre-school to go home and see her.

“I'm thinking, 'Oh my goodness, where is he?'" Owen’s mom Suzanne said.

Owen was at Heritage Preschool. He went to the bathroom, and just never came back.

Owen was missing for almost an hour before parents Tim and Suzanne even knew. Tim only found out he was gone because he wasn't there when he tried to pick little Owen up.

“The thing that upsets me the most is that they didn't call anyone. They didn't call me, they didn't call police. That should be common sense to everyone,” Owen’s dad Tim said.

Tim called police immediately, an hour after he disappeared. Little Owen was safe at the police station.

“I was so happy and he was so happy to see me and we were both crying,” Tim said.

Their reunion was possible thanks to Linda Linsdau.

“She's our perfect stranger,” Suzanne said.

Linda found Owen wandering the streets alone.

“He said, ‘Take me home. I want my mom,’" Linda said.

Linda took Owen to the police station right away.

“The whole time I was thinking someone is going really crazy trying to find this little guy,” Linda said.

Owen's parents are now asking all pre-schools to have a plan in place in case a child does wander off, so every reunion can be as happy as theirs.

“This time it worked out for us. Maybe next time it won't work out. There's so many missing children in this world,” Tim said.

TODAY’S TMJ4’s Heather Shannon tried to get the pre-school's side of the story, but they didn't return our calls, but the St. Mary's say Heritage immediately changed their policy. Teachers now stand outside the bathroom and walk the kids back to class.
