MILWAUKEE - Two 12 year olds are accused of starting a fire that hurt a Milwaukee firefighter.

The fire started in a vacant home Wednesday night near 41st and Garfield.

TODAY’S TMJ4’s Melanie Stout talked to a neighbor who says he was surprised to hear kids were responsible.

Melanie Stout: “So you guys talk to the young kids?”

“We try to keep them in school, keep them from robbing neighborhoods, you know, keep them from messing up,” neighbor Terry Reed said.

The firefighter had some burns on his neck but is expected to be OK.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.
