Lawmaker says UW executive doesn't deserve job
MADISON - Wisconsin Rep. Steve Nass says a recent audit of the University of Wisconsin System suggests that a top official doesn't deserve to hold his post on a full-term basis.
Auditors found that the UW System overpaid for health insurance premiums and pension contributions by nearly $33 million over the last two years.
Nass on Thursday said the discovery calls into question the leadership of Michael Morgan, the UW System senior vice president for administration and fiscal affairs.
Morgan was appointed to a three-year term in 2010, and a search is under way for a permanent candidate.
Nass, a Republican from Whitewater, says Morgan should withdraw his own name from consideration. Nass says Morgan has shown a lack of leadership and oversight.
Morgan did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
