State supreme court being called on to save a school mascot
BERLIN, Wis. - Two towns share a common story right now.
It's Berlin and Mukwonago, where parents in both are fighting to retain their school mascot.
After Mukwonago parents lost a round from the state appeals court, the Department of Public Instruction has given them a deadline of 2014 to do away with the athletic team's Indian nickname by next year.
Mukwonago is now hoping to take their appeal all the way to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Berlin is waiting to see what happens with that. Meantime, Berlin parents have hired the same attorneys that are representing Mukwonago parents.
