Wisconsin Innocence Projects helps Malone get new trial
MILWAUKEE - Change is expected to come this week that could set a convicted murderer in Milwaukee free.
On Tuesday, Seneca Malone is expected to be granted a new trial date, thanks to work done on his case by the Wisconsin Innocence Project, a program through the University of Wisconsin law school.
Attorneys there argued that Malone, who was convicted in the 2005 fatal shooting of Ricardo Mora, had ineffective counsel, and that might have changed the outcome of his trial from guilty to innocent.
Despite the move, assistant district attorney Grant Huebner is promising to prosecute the case just as aggressively as with the first trial.
