Family: South Division student shot, killed by brother on south side
MILWAUKEE - A family member says that a teenager who attends Milwaukee South Division High School was shot and killed.
According to her brother-in-law, her brother is the suspect.
Romulo Santos told Melissa McCrady that Brendalyz Morales, 15, was accidentally shot and killed in the incident which happened at about 4:00 a.m. near the corner of South Cesar Chavez Drive and West Orchard Street.
"They say he dropped the gun on the floor and he shot her," said Santos.
"She was going to school, trying to do her thing, but now she will be in a better place."
Milwaukee Police confirmed the victim was a 15-year-old girl, but has not confirmed any of the other information from the family member.
"I don't even know what got into him," said Santos. "When you've got kids aruond you, you cannot have guns in the house."
Police said they had an 18-year-old man in custody.
