Study: MCTS In Dire Need Of More Funding

MILWAUKEE - Depleting a federal funding source and raising taxes would barely keep the Milwaukee County Transit System at its current level.

A new public policy forum study suggests the bus system in Milwaukee County is in dire need of more funding.

The study suggests the only way to fix the problem is to raise taxes. It offers a permanent solution would be to initiate a regional sales tax.

As a more immediate stop-gap, it suggests a $10 vehicle tax for county residents and draining the $90 some million in federal funds dedicated to further regional public transit.
