Wis. candidates face nomination deadline
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The deadline is looming for Wisconsin Supreme Court and state schools superintendent candidates to turn in their nomination papers.
Justice Pat Roggensack and state Department of Public Instruction Superintendent Tony Evers are both up for re-election this spring.
Candidates must submit nomination papers with at least 2,000 valid signatures to the state Government Accountability Board by the end of the day Wednesday to secure a spot on the ballots.
Roggensack turned in what she said were 4,000 signatures on Friday. Lemon law attorney Vince Megna and Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone both have registered with the GAB to challenge her.
State Rep. Don Pridemore, a Hartford Republican, has registered to run against Evers.
GAB officials have scheduled a primary for Feb. 19 and the general election for April 2.
