Fox Valley child abuse conviction is overturned
APPLETON, Wis. -- Defense attorneys for a Fox Valley man convicted of child abuse have successfully won a second chance for their client.
A Post Crescent of Appleton report says an Outagamie County judge thought prosecutors were too slow to hand over evidence that might have helped the defense, so she overturned the convictions against 35 year old Dennis Strong Junior.
According to the criminal complaint, Strong allegedly dunked a 6 year old boy's head in a toilet, punched the boy's mother and slapped another child in the home.
Prosecutors withheld one victim's recorded statement until day one of the frial.
A new trial date has not yet been set.
