Man To Face Charges In Deadly Oconomowoc Crash

WAUKESHA - A 55-year-old former doctor Mark Benson is in the Waukesha County Jail, awaiting charges for the accident that took the lives of three people.

The Waukesha County District Attorney says Benson will be charged on Monday with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle for the deaths of Jennifer Bukosky, her daughter Courtney Bella, and her unborn child.

Benson will face three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and two counts of injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle for the two victims who survived.

District Attorney Brad Schimel tells TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Charles Benson that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Investigators believe drugs were involved, but they are still waiting for results of a blood test.

Benson has been arrested for drugs and drunken driving in the past. He was at one time an orthopedic surgeon, but he was forced to give up his license on suspicion of writing himself fake prescriptions.

Benson was not legally allowed to be driving on the day of the crash. His license had been suspended just two days before the accident after a 2007 drunken driving arrest.
