Fire destroys home near Hustisford
HUSTISFORD - A home in Hustisford is likely a total loss and a number of animals appear to have died after a fire Friday morning.
Authorities got a call around 8:30 in the morning reporting a fire in the home on Garfield Road South of County Highway R, which is just east of the Village of Hustisford.
"Upon arrival we could see the house was fully involved, flame were coming out of the roof line and windows," said Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls.
It's still early, but Nehls says authorities suspect a wood burner might be involved.
The fire did substantial damage."This will be a total loss," Nehls said.
In addition, it appears a number of animals have died in the fire. "One of the residents is in the business of a traveling petting zoo for children and many of those animals were kept in the home," Nehls said.
The people in the home were able to escape. There's no word of any injuries.
