Adoption Celebration Day brings children, families together in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE - As of Friday, 240 children were waiting to be adopted in Wisconsin.
Adoption Celebration Day has been established to try to lower that number in our state and across America.
Six families were to adopt Friday in Wisconsin.
Juan and Marisol Ives is adopting Faith, a 13-month-old girl, through the Children's Hospital Community Services Program.
"It's a joy," explained Marisol to Melissa McCrady on TODAY'S TMJ4's "Live at Daybreak."
"It's been a long process, but at the same time, a joyful day, just because I know she'll be with us forever. We've had her since October of 2011, but she's been doing well. It's a joy."
"She's very interesting, very funny, sometimes serious," Juan described about his new daughter. "She's a mama's girl."
The Department of Children and Families was looking to place another 240 kids statewide with new families.
