DOT announces WB I-794 traffic fix
MILWAUKEE - The state Dept. of Transportation is outlining a plan to alleviate the congestion from WB I-794 through the Marquette Interchange.
Traffic going westbound on I-794 currently bottlenecks to one lane through the interchange. The configuration was done in order to clear traffic going north and south on I-43.
The DOT plans to add a fourth lane on WB I-94 between the interchange and the 35th Street Interchange. The extra lane will allow two lanes to go through the Marquette Interchange.
Work to add the auxiliary lane will begin in March and will be completed in May 2013, according to the DOT.
