Village of Brown Deer gives green light to independent review
BROWN DEER- The Village of Brown Deer will have an independent review of the Brown Deer Police Department's repeated encounters with Radcliffe and Zina Haughton, says Brown Deer Village Manager Russell Van Gompel.
"In the interest of getting an unbiased evaluation of the facts and law enforcement standards relevant to the Village of Brown Deer Police Department's contacts with the Haughtons, we have hired Wisconsin Law Enforcement Instructor Robert C. Willis to conduct an independent review of all contacts with the Haughtons", says Gompel in a statement issued Friday afternoon.
Lawmakers requested an independent review after reports indicated that Brown Deer police had sev with Radcliffe Haughton -- the gunman that killed three women and wounded four others at the Azana Spa and Salon last month -- and never made an arrest.
Gompel says the village will "fully cooperate with Mr. Willis' review." Gompel says that he will provide Willis with any personnel and records needed in the investigation.
