Health care premiums can be negotiated, says Dane County judge
MADISON, Wis. - A ruling in Madison this week could have a statewide impact on the healthcare premiums paid by rank-and-file police officers.
Dane County Judge Joan Colas has agreed to allow Eau Claire county sheriff's deputies to negotiate their own health care deductibles.
Officers across the state have claimed their employers threatened to increase heatlh care deductibles unless the officers paid a larger percentage into their pension plans.
In Milwaukee, a judge made a similar ruling in April. The city of Milwaukee is appealing.
