RACINE- A report of someone with a gun near McKinley Middle School prompted a lockdown for about 20 minutes Wednesday afternoon.

"We had a student that had looked out the window of the school and had believed they saw someone outside the building that may have had something in their hand that looked like a weapon," says Stacy Tapp with the Racine Unified School District.

Tapp says students were told to stay in their classrooms as police investigated.

Authorities canvassed the area and didn't find anything.

"We're hoping that it was better safe than sorry, we took the right precautions," says Tapp.
