MILWAUKEE - People across Southeastern Wisconsin were waking up Tuesday morning to find thick fog that is expected to hang around for an extended part of the a.m. hours.
A dense fog advisory has been issued for Milwaukee, Waukesha, Dodge Jefferson, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth and Washington Counties until 9:00 a.m.
"As expected, dense fog developed overnight and will be an issue for many locations throught the early morning hours," said Scott Steele.
"This could repeat again overnight tonight."
Steele tells us that a warm front will be lifting through Southeastern Wisconsin on Tuesday.
"With winds out of the southwest temperatures will surge into the 70s!"
But he also says there's the capability of "thunderboomers."
"There's an abundance of moisture and enough instability to trigger scattered showers and even some thunderstorms once again. With the warm sector firmly in place for Wednesday, temperatures will rise even more into the mid 70s, though most of the day should be dry."
Then comes a week-long process by which temperatures will plummet by the end of the weekend.
"A strong cold front should plow through on Thursday leading to the return of showers and storms and triggering a sharp downturn in temperatures just in time for Friday and the weekend."
