Milwaukee police need help finding arsonist caught on tape
Steve Chamraz reports Video by tmj4.comvideo
MILWAUKEE- An arson caught on camera is the fourth attempt in the past month to burn down a north side home.
It's easy to understand why the woman who lives at that house near 18th and Vienna doesn't want to be shown on TV.
After the third try, her husband installed a security camera.
Two weeks ago, it recorded the fourth attempt -- second by second.
"It's good, but I don't recognize anybody in the video," says the woman.
Police released that video Friday in hopes someone does recognize the man who lit the fire.
The security camera caught him pouring gasoline on the front porch, before dropping a match and running away.
TODAY'S TMJ4's Steve Chamraz: "Is somebody trying to give you a message?"
Woman: "I have no clue. I just go to work and come home..."
Just like she's done since moving in -- in 1998.
Whether it's bad elements in the neighborhood -- or mistaken identity, she just wants the fire-starter caught.
"I don't know if they have the wrong house, I don't know. (Because) nobody even sees us coming and going. We just go to work, come home."
The suspect is a black man -- in a long-sleeve, light colored shirt and dark jeans.
If you have any idea who is terrorizing this family -- you're asked to call Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7360.
