Tommy Thompson says son feels terrible for Obama remark
MILWAUKEE- Wisconsin's Republican Senate candidate, former Gov. Tommy Thompson, says his son feels terrible for suggesting that voters should send President Barack Obama back to Kenya.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Thompson was asked about Jason Thompson's comment Sunday at an event hosted by the Kenosha County Republican Party. The younger Thompson was caught on camera saying voters have a chance to send Obama back to Chicago -- or Kenya.
The elder Thompson says he spoke to his son and that, in his words, "nobody is suffering more than he is about this." The candidate says that his son has apologized for an off-hand remark by an audience member that he then repeated. Jason Thompson is a Milwaukee lawyer.
Obama's father was Kenyan, but the president was born in Hawaii.
