Man struck, killed by car in Hartford
HARTFORD - The Washington County Sheriff's Department says that a 64-year-old man has died after being struck by a car.
The crash happened at about 6:55 p.m. Sunday night on County Highway K near Patton Drive in Hartford.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man had picked up his dog and was walking it back home on Highway K.
He was in the southbound lane of K when a car going south struck him. A 60-year-old woman from Hartford was driving it.
Investigators did not initially say why the man was in the road.
Rescue crews took him to a hospital in Hartford, where he died.
Authorities believe that alcohol and fast speeds were not contributing factors to the crash.
