MILWAUKEE - Police say they have questioned a 25-year-old mother accused of leaving her baby with strangers and not returning. The 9-month-old was left at a home on the 3500 block of N. 16th St., Thursday night.
"My son was on the porch and she came by and the baby was not dressed properly." said Lucy Roberson. After inviting the woman and her child inside, the mother told her son she needed to make a quick run to a store a few blocks away. The woman, who the family recognized from the neighborhood, never returned.
Roberson called police early Friday morning.
Investigators located the mother with the help of family members after seeing the child's picture on television.
Police have not released the name of the woman. The child was being cared for by Social Services at last check.
