Anonymous donor helps Brookfield family buy service dog

MILWAUKEE- 12-year-old Nathan Patch received a generous gift from a Milwaukee businessman that allows him to keep a service dog that will alert Nate whenever his blood sugar is too low.
Stan Kass, who is active in the service dog community, will provide all the funds that go along with the dog -- including veterinary visits and the transportation involved.
"We'll pay for the airfare coming in, and anything else that they need," Kass said.
Nate's parents, Cynthia and David, could not have been happier when they received the news.
"When I got the phone call, I think I just sat right down and cried. I was just touched that someone would give out of their means to our family in that big of a manner," said Cynthia Patch.
It will be another four months until the service dog is trained and ready to join the Hatch family. It's a Golden Retriever/Irish Setter mix. Nate has already picked out a name -- Sunny.
