RACINE- A woman was assaulted after being stopped by a police impersonator on County Highway K near Apple Rd. She was driving when a car behind her lit up an oscillating red light on its front dash.

She pulled over and a black male approached the vehicle, displayed a weapon and then assaulted her. He was not dressed as a police officer. The male was described as approximately 6'0" and weighing around 200 lbs.

The assault stopped when another car drove by and the assailant ran back to his car and left. The car is described as a dark colored, 4-door sedan and possibly having the letter "T" as the fourth character in the license plate.

Legitimate police or law enforcement squad cars display red and blue lights, not just a red light. If you are stopped by a vehicle that does not have both red and blue lights, you should drive to a well lit area and call the police. Do not get out of your car.

The Racine County Sheriff's department is asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to call the Sheriff's office at 262-886-2300.
