Quarry blast leads to earthquake concerns
FRANKLIN - It appears a quarry blast led a lot of people in Franklin to think there had been an earthquake this morning.
People along Drexel Avenue started reporting what they they thought as an earthquake a little after 9:20 this morning.
People who called said they know what the quarry blasting feels like and said this felt different. But, the company that owns a quarry nearby confirms they were blasting around that time.
"It was a rolling with a rumble. You could hear it coming toward you, it hit you and kinda shook you, and then it passed on," Ed Dee told us.
The USGS Earthquake Information Center says they don't have any record of an earthquake this morning. That means it was either too small or it was something else, like the quarry blast.
The City of Franklin says it took a lot of calls about the shaking this morning, far more than it would usually take after a blast.
