Emergency rules could be drawn this week for dog-wolf hunt
MADISON, Wis. - Should dogs be allowed in the winter wolf hunt?
That question continues, and this week, officials with the Wisconsin department of natural resources plan to go before the Natural Resources Board in Eau Claire for permission to draw up emergency regulations on the issue.
State wildlife officials would like to write new rules on the training of dogs for wolf hunts.
The meeting is set for Wednesday.
Last month, a group of humane societies sued the Department of Natural Resources, out of concern that some dogs could be killed in the hunt.
A Madison judge has temporarily banned hunters from using dogs to hunt wolves while the case is being decided.
