Local NewsSteve Miller To Headline At Summerfest
MILWAUKEE - Summerfest officials say the Steve Miller Band will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on Sunday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m., along with Joe Cocker.
Steve Miller Band is the classic rock blues group fronted by lead singer, guitarist, namesake and Milwaukee-born Steve Miller. Some of the band’s many greatest hits include “Fly Like An Eagle,” “The Joker,” “Take the Money and Run,” and “Rock’n Me.” Their 1970s trilogy of albums The Joker, Fly Like An Eagle and Book of Dreams brought the band immense commercial success. Their latest release, Fly Like An Eagle:30th Anniversary Edition features original demos of some of their hits as bonus tracks, along with a commemorative DVD of live performances and interviews. Opening the show is British rock and soul singer Joe Cocker, who found success in the late 60s as the lead singer of the Grease Band. His powerful and distinctive voice, along with his eccentric stage presence, established him as one of rock’s greatest interpreters, covering hits by the Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Bob Dylan, among many others. Cocker reached Top Ten status in the U.S. with his 1975 single “You Are So Beautiful” and his 1982 duet with Jennifer Warnes, “Up Where We Belong.” Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m. and will be available for $55, $50 and $40.
