Meeting Thursday in Jackson about pipeline leak
JACKSON - A meeting has been scheduled for Thursday night in Jackson for people to talk about a long term solution following a gasoline pipeline spill that has tainted private wells in the area.
The meeting is with the state, which will oversee whatever solution is put in place for homeowners.
A number of private water wells have tested positive for dangerous chemicals following the spill.
West Shore Pipeline, which owns the pipeline that spilled, says it will pay for whatever remedy everyone agrees on.
"We're going to see it to the end. We're going to do what's right," said the company's Pat Hodgins.
"At the end of the day, the Town of Jackson and ourselves are going to figure out the best of those options for everyone involved."
Hodgins says West Shore will continue to monitor groundwater and mop up gasonline still in the ground.
"We've hired an engineering firm, a third party, to come in here and work with us on identifying different options for a long-term water source."
