BURLINGTON - A TODAY’S TMJ4 Exclusive: murder for hire.

A Racine County woman is accused of hiring a man to kill her husband.

It didn't work, and now that husband is speaking with TODAY’S TMJ4.

The woman offered a hit man $50,000 and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to kill her husband.

Diane Zimmerman and the alleged hit man are behind bars awaiting trial. Police say Zimmerman offered the hit man a Harley, then watched as the attacker stabbed her husband over and over again.

It's amazing Todd Zimmerman is still alive after the attack. He was stabbed 13 times, and his wife Diane is now on trial for hiring the man who did it.

"I got two in my left lung, one in the back of my neck, one in the throat, one in the chest, my left arm was severed all the way to the bone,” Todd Zimmerman said.

Five months later, Zimmerman is still recovering. He didn't want to discuss the details of the case, but TODAY’S TMJ4’s Michael George asked him if he thought his wife was behind the murder plot.

“According to police reports, yeah, she was involved. Can I honestly go out on a limb and say she was involved? I don't know how far I can go with that,” Zimmerman said.

Burlington police believe Diane Zimmerman was not only involved, she let accused attacker Michael Isferding into their home, offering him $50,000 and a brand new Harley-Davidson bike for the murder.

Police say Diane Zimmerman witnessed the crime. She was parked in a car and was watching the stabbing through a living room window.

"I never seen it coming. I think it shocked a lot of people,” Zimmerman said.

Todd Zimmerman doesn't want to speculate whether his wife was the mastermind.

“It's a very sad situation, all around,” Zimmerman said.

Diane Zimmerman is claiming she had nothing to do with the crime. If convicted, she and Isferding could get 65 years behind bars.
