Train hits van in town of Delafield, driver okay
DELAFIELD, Wis. - The driver of a van heading through the town of Delafield Saturday is lucky to be alive.
The man tells Waukesha County sheriff's deputies that his van, carrying a trailer, couldn't stop in time, as a train was approaching at Highway KE and Glacier.
The man slammed on the brakes and the van became disabled on the tracks, but he was able to get out before the train crashed into the van.
Police say the 84-car Canadian Pacific freight pushed the vehicle a-half-mile east.
The accident is now being investigated by Waukesha county and the Canadian Pacific railroad company.
