Manpower: 12% more companies plan to hire than downsize in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE - The newest Manpower employment outlook has come out and it predicts moderate job growth for Milwaukee and the United States.
Locally, 18 percent of employers in Metropolitan Milwaukee said they plan to increase staff levels, compared to six percent who plan to decrease the number of employees.
"18 percent, that's nearly 1 in 5 plan to increase their hiring," Manpower Vice President Melanie Holmes told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jodi Becker.
"In the Milwaukee area, both durable goods and non-durable good manufacturing is looking pretty good. Also, transpiration and utilities, financial activities and leisure and hospitality are looking pretty good."
Across the state, Holmes said hiring would also be strong with a net 11 percent of companies planning to add workers versus lessening their workstaff.
The net national employment outlook is 11 percent of companies hiring more workers for the 4th quarter of 2012. That is unchanged from the 3rd quarter and three points above the fourth quarter of 2011.
