Benefit announced for Oak Creek Sikh temple, Lt. Brian Murphy
OAK CREEK- A benefit has been announced for the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin and Oak Creek Police Lt. Brian Murphy following the August 5 massacre.
The Oak Creek Community Center said they will host "A Community United" from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, September 29, at the Oak Creek Community Center, 8580 S. Howell Avenue.
According to a news release, the event will feature a chicken dinner by Papa Luigi's restaurant, desserts from Rich's House of Cakes and Culvers, beverages from Black Bear Bottling group, musical entertainment and raffles.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door and $5 for kids 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased at North Shore Bank, 8701 S. Howell Ave; Rich's House of Cakes, 4353 S. 27th Street; or the community center. Only 500 tickets will be sold.
All proceeds benefit the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin and the Lt. Brian Murphy fund, according to the release.
Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm said during a press conference Monday that Lt. Murphy was hit 15 times by gunman Wade Michael Page.
Page killed six people at the temple last month before taking his own life.
