7,000 We Energies customers lost power during Milwaukee-area storms
MILWAUKEE- Severe weather resulted in thousands of power outages across southeast Wisconsin.
According to We Energies, around 7,000 customers lost power during storms Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
As of 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, 600 customers were without power. About 150 customers in Milwaukee, 150 in West Bend, and about 300 others in Jefferson County still needed service to restore power at that time.
"We were able to make some good progress through the night," said Spokesman Brian Manthey to Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jay Sorgi.
"It was Jefferson County that got hit the hardest...though we did have a significant outage in Cudahy, about 2,200 customers. They were returned to power at about midnight."
Manthey said a mix of weather conditions led to the power outages.
"It was a combination of wind and lightning. Lightning took out quite a bit of the power in Jefferson County, though we did have some wind blow through trees in Jefferson County."
TODAY'S TMJ4's Annie Scholz reports she saw plenty of lightning from State Fair Park in West Allis Tuesday evening.
