GREENFIELD - Police say what happened in a Greenfield Dollar Tree should have women on alert.

A 34-year-old woman was shopping with her 9-year-old daughter, when something strange happened.

"She could feel something brushing against her leg and she looked down and saw what she thought was a foam and ended up being a video camera pointed up her skirt," said Greenfield Police Captain Mike Brunner.

The victim started screaming, and that's when people inside the store jumped into action.  The small group of people grabbed and held on to 72-year-old Elric M. Carlson.  Police say he tried to delete as much video as he could, before he was pinned.  But they recovered video from this incident and at least one other.

"We believe it was at Southridge Mall but he was definitely at a shopping mall type of setting where he was following females around and videotaping them, focusing in on their buttocks and upskirting is what we call it... videotaping up the skirt," explained Captain Brunner.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's office has charged Carlson with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.  He's been arrested in the past for similar crimes.  Captain Brunner says -- unfortunately -- "upskirting" happens a lot and women need to be careful.

"There's a whole world of people out there doing this type of thing."
