MOSINEE, Wis. (AP) -- Four Wisconsinites had the opportunity to meet the first person to set foot on the moon in his last public appearance before his death.

Gary and Mary Sulzer own a Mosinee company that made parts for the Discovery Channel Telescope at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Ariz. The Sulzers, their 23-year-old son, Tim, and quality control manager Roger Molski met Neil Armstrong at a ceremony last month to dedicate a new telescope at the observatory.

Molski tells the Wausau Daily Herald meeting Armstrong was like meeting Christopher Columbus -- he's a pioneer.

The 82-year-old Armstrong died in Cincinnati, Ohio of complications after Aug. 6 heart surgery. Former astronauts, political and business leaders, and family and friends gathered in suburban Cincinnati Friday for a closed service for Armstrong.
