Sand mining companies form association
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Four companies in the rapidly-growing sand mining industry in Wisconsin are joining together to create a new statewide organization.
The Wisconsin Industrial Sand Association plans to impose high standards for environmental protection, management and safety.
Association president Rich Budinger says the group's leaders would do annual reviews to make sure members are following its standards.
The State Journal (http://tinyurl.com/9t7293u ) says the group includes Badger Mining Corp., U.S. Silica, Unimin Corp. and Fairmount Minerals, the parent company of Wisconsin Industrial Sand Co.
