Recalled BP gas costs Oak Creek driver hundreds of dollars
SHOREWOOD- We now know which BP stations sold recalled gasoline in southeast Wisconsin, and TODAY'S TMJ4 caught up with an affected driver.
Zach Johnson was on the highway and before he knew it, his car was stalling and he was stranded. Hundreds of dollars in repairs later, he's still waiting to hear from BP about what they plan to do.
"It would physically shake, I mean a lot, and then it would just cut out," said Johnson to TODAY'S TMJ4.
Johnson managed to keep his cool when he was driving his wife's car and all of the sudden, something went very wrong.
"The fuel filter was destroyed and the fuel pump was destroyed as well," explained Johnson.
Turns out, Johnson got a batch of bad BP gas -- and a hefty repair bill.
"Basically $600 in repairs...Plus a rental car because I had to get my wife to work."
Dozens of BP stations in southeast Wisconsin were hit, including Landry's in Brookfield. But Landry's was lucky.
"We got a small load Tuesday and I think we had enough in the other tank that it didn't have bad effects," said Renee Landry.
Landry doesn't know of any customers that had problems.
"We have good gas and we're back in business," explained Landry.
Meanwhile, Johnson's car is back in business too, but without a lot of answers from BP.
"I was informed they would do something, they just didn't know what."
Johnson told TODAY'S TMJ4 that BP told him it might take an insurance adjuster a while to get back to him. Click here to see which BP stations were affected by you.
