TOWN OF YORKVILLE - A man has been shot to death on a rural farm in Racine County.
Neighbors say the Town of Yorkville is the last place you'd expect a murder investigation.
"It's just a small farm community," neighbor Vic Green says. "It's us and farmers and that's pretty much it."
But early Sunday morning, this rural farm town became the focus of an intense murder investigation.
"I saw about a half-a-mile in both directions the road was closed off by police cars and there were about five or six cars at the end of the street," neighbor Susan Dickman says.
Authorities say a man was shot at about 2 a.m. Sunday. He died at the hospital.
"It's kind of scary," neighbor Cathy Green says. "It's our neighborhood."
Those living nearby woke to deputies at their door, looking for information.
"We were told that there was somebody on the lose in the woods somewhere," Dickman says. "There's woods behind our house and woods across the street but they said they didn't have anbody yet."
Neighbors heard what sounded like a party at the scene earlier Saturday night.
TODAY'S TMJ4 has learned a group of family members had gathered on the property after a funeral.
"It's sad," Dickman says. "I feel for the families, however it happened."
