Generosity of Wisconsin residents is low, study finds
MILWAUKEE - You can go to nearly any other state and find people who are more charitable, than the people who live here in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin ranks near the bottom, 44th out of the 50 states, in money given to charity according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
Their study looked at the numbers from the Internal Revenue Service in 2008 and found Wisconsin residents had donated 3.4 percent of their income.
Nationwide, the average is 4.7 percent.
Only taxpayers who earned $50-thousand or more were used in the study.
