Teacher from Lake Geneva laid to rest Saturday
LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - A memorial service was to begin at Noon Saturday in Lake Geneva for a 27 year old teacher, who died mysteriously while on vacation in Vietnam.
Kari Bowerman, a 2003 graduate of Badger High School and her traveling companion, Canadian Cathy Huynh, were both admitted to a hospital there in June after repeatedly vomitting.
Cause of death is not listed on their death certificates.
Adding to the mystery surrounding the women's deaths is that they are similar to a few other cases in the region.
Also in June, two Canadian sisters were found dead in their hotel room, which was reportedly covered with vomit, on the Thai resort island of Phi Phi.
And in 2009, two women were found poisoned on the island of Phi Phi.
A graveside service Saturday was being held for Bowerman at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva.
