MILWAUKEE- A prominent Milwaukee neurosurgeon is convicted on tax charges for allegedly failing to disclose offshore bank accounts.

Arvind Ahuja was found guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court of Milwaukee of one count of filing a false tax return in 2009 and one count of failing to file a report of foreign bank and financial accounts. He was acquitted on five other counts.

Prosecutors say Ahuja transferred millions of dollars to undeclared offshore bank accounts. They say in 2009, he failed to report interest earned at HSBC bank India.

One of his attorneys, Thomas Kirsch, says prosecutors did not present enough evidence to support the conviction. The defense is asking that it be overturned.

Kirsch says Ahuja has massive tax returns and the issue is related to one missed tax form.
